You must have heard or read it somewhere that "a satisfied life is better than a successful life", but is it really true? Let's have a small debate on the topic because I would love to register my opinion on this quotation, and I would love to see your opinion in the comments section.
In order to be able debate, we first need to define the two buzz words, "Satisfied" and "Successful". What make us satisfied? In my opinion, achieving the desired goals makes your life satisfied but the definition of satisfaction might differ for every other person. Satisfaction for someone might be living with their children, living healthy life and so on and so forth. Wait a minute... What is success then? Isn't it the same or at least similar? I define success as achieving your goal. Isn't it so?
Successful, Contented or Satisfied Life |
I would rather compare contented life with successful life, because being contented is being happy in whatever you already have and it's a way to ignore the greed of other achievements which you do not have at the moment, but success is to strive for achieving what you desire. So, let's rephrase the question as "a contented life is better than a successful life" which now makes a lot of sense. Let's now talk a little about it. Is it really better to be contented of whatever you have at the moment and forget about your goals and quit running in the race of life? Like a monk? Won't it be the end of life for you?
Well, I am not sure at least I would do it. I take it as "be contented on whatever you have at the moment and keep on setting new goals and dream for betterment. Moreover, keep on trying to bring your dreams to reality and achieving your goals but DO NOT GET FRUSTRATED". The only purpose of being contented is to eliminate the frustration out of your mind and your life, so that you can live like a burden free person, like a bird flying high in the sky. Let me put another thing in front of you, "less burden you carry, higher will be your flight". So be contented and strive for achievement of your goals.
Let me know your viewpoints on my side of the debate.
