Binding AWS VPS IP Address with Hostinger Subdomain

Bind AWS IP with Hostinger Sub-Domain To bind an AWS IP address to a Hostinger subdomain, you need to update the DNS records of your Hostinger domain to point to the AWS IP address. Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieve this: Step1: Find the AWS IP Address If you have an EC2 instance, you can find the IP address in the AWS Management Console under the "Instances" section. Note the Public IPv4 address. Step2: Access Hostinger DNS Management Log in to your Hostinger account. Go to the "Domains" section and select the domain for which you want to configure the subdomain. Navigate to the "DNS Zone" or "DNS Settings" for that domain. Step3: Create a Subdomain and Point to AWS IP In the DNS settings, create a new A record. Set the "Name" or "Host" field to your subdomain (e.g., subdomain.yourdomain.com ). Set the "Points to" or "Value" field to your AWS IP address. Set the TTL (Time to Live) to the default value...

ASIC - Install Hikvision 4 Channel DVR DS-7100 (Solved)

In continuation to my previous blog "Purchaing 2nd Hand Hikvision 4 Channel DVR and Cameras Online - Market Survey"which is part-1 of My Main Topic "Installation of 4 Channel DVR in DIY Model". In the current blog post I will be discussing the one of the pre-installation steps.

Preparing Equipment Prior Installation

12V Alternate Adapter for DVR
In the last post I mentioned the way I purchased Hikvision equipment and also stated the issue of purchased hardware. This post will be talking about preparing the equipment which starts from powering on the DVR. As I stated in my last post that there was no power adapter with the package purchased, so i had to arrange the power module for DVR. The sticker pasted underneath the DVR States input power rating as 12V == 1.5A. I started searching for the power adapter online and in the meantime I also searched my personal inventory at home and found adapter of 12V == 1.0A which was earlier used for PTCL internet router 😆😆😆, picture displayed aside. DVR powered on with this power adapter.

DVR Information
Model: DS-7104HVI-SH
Source: Europe
Channel: 4
Input Power: 12V === 1.5A

Powering On DVR

Next step was to get display on LED Monitor using HDMI or Serial Port Cable, which "trust me" is the easiest thing to to in the whole process. As soon as the DVR got powered on the HDMI cable in-place, LED Monitor showed the 4 blank camera places with date and time because cameras are not connected so far. So far, so good, but when i tried to operate DVR using mouse installed with it, I came to know that this is password protected and i needed to know the admin password to get into the system for settings and recording etc.

Password Reset for DVR DS-7104HVI-SH

PS: This method is to be used if you have purchased 2nd hand DVR where you do not have access to the email address or admin password. If you have the registered email then please follow the basic method of retrieving password shared by Hikvision official website using Hik-App.

Disclaimer: I am sharing my personal experiences in this blog and i will not be responsible to any sort of damage or loss of your equipment. So please follow the steps at your own risk.

This was the time of frustration that how could i forget to get the password from the first owner. Luckily, I have had the cell phone number of that gentleman and first thing i did was to Whatsapp him to know the admin password. His reply was more frustrating but truthful, as he said that the DVR and cameras were installed at his business location which he closed down around 6 months back and he does not remember the admin password at the moment, he also added that he will look into the record of office to see the password. I could have waited for him to respond which i did for just a couple of days and then started searching online solutions for the forgotten password.

I came across multiple hits of videos and blogs while searching google most of which were referring to the similar if not same method which is also stated here. Even the Hikvision support page also stated the same method using SADP tool available on Hikvision official website.

The Famous Method

Step-1: Download the Hikvision SADP software which is used for searching the online devices in the same network. This software supports viewing the device information, activating the device, editing the network parameters of the device and resetting the device password, etc.
Step-2: After Installation the SADP, select your device and click export. Pop-up window will be prompted, where you can select the desired folder on your computer and give the name of the .CSV file and click confirm to save. This .CSV file is required to be emailed to Hikvision Support
Step-3: Open you email and compose the mail to one of the following addresses as per your area.
Attach the .CSV file and write the Subject "DVR Password Reset" and send the email. The support team responds within a few minuted usually so wait for their response. Next step is to be executed as soon as the support shares .CSV file for resetting the password.
Step-4: Now open the SADP again, select the DVR and click on Forgot Password button. A new pop-up software window will be opened having a few fields and  click on the Export button. Select Import File button and upload .CSV file shared by Support Team. You will be asked to set and confirm new password.
SADP tool for the process

Looks so simple and effective and it usually is for most of the DVRs but not for all DVRs, like mine  DS-7104HVI-SH has a bit different interface when I clicked on the forgot password button from Step-2 above. There was just an option to go to default password with Security Code which i presumed that it would also be provided by the Support Team and i tried to follow the same steps and forwarded my mail to all 3 above mentioned email addresses. Alas, all of them regretted service one way or the other.

The Shortcut Method

This was high time and I had already spent money on the DVR and cameras and I have had to something by hook or by the crook, so I started surfing internet for alternate solutions regarding password reset and after a few minutes and couple of breaks I came across this magical web page (ipcam talk). At first, I thought it was another scam site like so many available over the internet but i had to give it a try though. There is "Hikvision Camera Password Reset Utility" which requests following information:

Hikvision Camera Serial Number: "Provide Serial Number of DVR"
4 Digit Year The Camera Thinks It Is: "Provide the Year shown at your Monitor Screen"
2 Digit Month The Camera Thinks It Is: "Provide the Month shown at your Monitor Screen"

While receiving the above required information, the Utility will provide you with the "Password Reset Code". Copy and paste this code into Security Code field shown in the picture and press Confirm Button. Tada.... your password has been reset to Default.

Now another minor problem that what is the default password? I searched the internet and found that the Default Password is 12345.

I will be coving the next steps as they happen in the upcoming posts. Regards

ASIC - Steve jobs Quote About Last Day

"IF TODAY WERE THE LAST DAY OF YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU WANTO TO DO WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO DO TODAY?" Steve Jobs Quote about Death This is very strong quote by Steve Jobs and I would confess that it pinched me, and it would not be exaggeration if I say that it turned my thoughts upside down. Imagine being alive for very brief moment or someday you get to know that it's going to be the last day of your life, would you really follow the routine life? Ask yourself, really you will get up and go to your daily tasks or jobs or study or whatever you do; would you really continue to do it? I don't think so. At least in my case, I would never be going to do my routine tasks. Let's first think about the quotation itself and try to understand motive of Steve Jobs behind this quotation here. Steve Jobs was suffering from Pancreatic Cancer, and he knew it very well that he was about to die soon. If we keep this factor in mind, then it would be very easy to understand this quotatio...

ASIC - Law Passed Ban Quran Burning

Denmark's parliament has passed a bill that makes it illegal to publicly desecrate the Quran or other holy texts. The decision comes in the wake of protests in Muslim countries over the defiling of Islam's sacred book, which raised security concerns. The bill prohibits "indecent treatment of writings with significant religious importance for a recognized religious community" and was passed with 94 votes in favor and 77 against in the 179-seat Folketing on Thursday.  In practical terms, it will be illegal to burn, tear, or otherwise deface holy texts in public or in recordings intended for widespread distribution. Those who violate the law risk a fine or up to two years in prison. Before it takes effect, Queen Margrethe needs to sign it officially, which is expected to happen this month. The purpose of the law is to counteract "the systematic mockery" that, among other things, has contributed to increasing the risk of terrorism in Denmark, the Ministry of Jus...
